Waterton Lakes National Park
Waterton Lakes National Park Project Highlights
Waterton’s appeal is rooted in its landscape, so the core challenge for this project was translating a highly visual, place-based experience into a digital format that captured the essence of the locale and could entice, inform and inspire a wide range of visitors.
We structured the site to support multiple user intents within a single experience. For first-time visitors, the focus is on introducing the park and conveying its scale, diversity, and key highlights. For those further along in the planning process, we organized detailed information around activities, accommodations, and amenities in a way that makes trip planning intuitive and efficient.
Given the volume of content, information architecture played a central role. We developed a clear, navigable structure that allows users to move easily between discovery and planning without feeling overwhelmed. This is supported by a custom interactive map, designed to help visitors understand the geography of the area, explore points of interest, and make more informed decisions about how best to spend their time.
Built in WordPress, the site combines a clean, nature-inspired aesthetic with a flexible content system that can evolve alongside seasonal updates and tourism needs. The result is a digital experience that not only showcases Waterton’s natural beauty, but also functions as a practical tool for planning and exploration.
